ARKTOS EDON
“open up your eyes. learn to live.” He tames more bears to his will and he gets help from his friends as well. Soon his tribe have over twenty bears that help them fish and watch over their children. Some of the bears are only half-tame and return to the wilderness at night, whilst others sleep with the tribe and keep them safe from mountain lions and other dangerous threats and hunters. A harsh winter comes and the humans are not prepared for it. As always, the bears are, but within two months, the man and his tribe are packing their things and moving off. The bears watch with wild eyes and nervous grunts - they don’t understand what is happening. The wolves stick with the children, observing the bears with cold eyes whilst the man stops packing for a moment and approaches the bears. He speaks in soft tones, placing his palms on each of their noses in turn; his eyes full of regret. Turning away, he hears them start to follow him and glares at them, raising his voice so that they step back in confusion and retreat. It is a bitter way to part, he thinks as he picks up his staff and walks off with the rest of his tribe and their wolves, but they cannot survive here in such harsh conditions. read more?
